Our College was started in a humble beginning in Tiruvarur in July, 1999 when there was no exclusive women’s college here. Girl students of this region were denied get higher education in the absence of colleges exclusively for women. Our college was established to fill up this vacuum and to provide better opportunity for higher education to girl students from villages and semi-urban areas. Our college has always been secular in its ambitions, activities and approach. The college has grown up in value, vision and volume in the past 21 years and reflects our country’s ideological identity of unity in diversity. Every student is made to understand that education is not a privilege but a basic right..

The whole world has been terribly affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic and the student community in specific education become in accessible. We have bridged the gap by quickly adapting the technology. I proudly say “we are one among the first movers” adapting the digitalized platform(Zoom, Google Meet)from July 2021 we have partnered with Microsoft teams for online classes-Cutting edge technology software for online classes. Many students entering the college come from villages are first generation in their respective agricultural families. It is for this reason we are providing cost affordable high standard education. Every family in this region has some link or other with R.A.C. which in term helped to fulfill the mission of the Founders to uplift the rural girl students from literary backwardness and isolation and to join the main stream in the nation building.
Students are given parental protection, care and security at the college campus. This college functions in a spacious area, well connected with the main arteries of Tiruvarur the abode of trinity of carnatic music, easily accessible by students. The college campus is located in a panoramic, conducive and safe environment, more suitable for girl students to assemble and study. For the convenience of girl students from remote villages, the college provides comfortable bus facility in different routes within a radius 40 km.
Spacious class rooms, auditorium, well equipped library, prayer hall, vast play-ground are very helpful to girl students. Frequent seminars are conducted for the students to have inter-collegiate participation. Every year students participate in industrial visits. Well-equipped laboratory for the departments of Computer, Bio-chemistry, Physics, Nutrition & Dietetics, D.M.L.T, and Fashion Technology are available. Language Lab helps students with more exposure in learning through visual and audio system.
Our library hall with large number of books, journals, magazines, and newspapers, is well utilized by students and staff.
The college provides both arts and science courses in twelve disciplines for U.G. students, and eight post graduate courses with M.B.A., Research courses, are also available in M. Phil (Bio-Chemistry)., M, Phil (Commerce)., M. Phil (Tamil) and Ph.D. research courses in Commerce and Bio-Chemistry.
Periodical National and International level seminars are conducted every year, inviting external resource persons. For the benefit of new students bridge course is conducted every year. We have also provided Guest lecture through external resource persons, leadership training, skill development programmes for both faculty and students separately.
Bio Chemistry students are encouraged to cultivate organic vegetables and herbal plants to gain practical knowledge.
No capitation fee is collected from the students or parents in any manner. Ragging is strictly prohibited.
Our college alumini meet is always well attended with great admiration. College Union leaders are elected every year by all students only through secret balloting in a very cordial and democratic manner.
Our students are provided greater opportunity to acquire leadership quality and encouraged active participation in extracurricular activities in civic, cultural, social and moral fiber of the society. Our students have learned the culture of co-existing as a family, without discrimination of caste, creed, race, religion in the bond of friendship, fellowship tied with mutual respect through value based education and support secular ideals of our country.
